Last Friday was the first day of Bakery Fair 2011 over at the World Trade Center, Manila. A program was scheduled in the evening wherein one of the segments was a fashion show, and not just any fashion show, mind you. It was a show featuring fashion heavyweights Randy Ortiz, Joey Samson, Ivarluski Aseron, Louis Claparols, Pablo Cabahug, Myth, Tango, and Koket. Behind this grand showcase of clothes that left the chefs, bakers, and special guests awestruck were JCA Productions, spearheaded by Jackie Aquino, and stylist extraordinaire Luis Espiritu. We got there around 11am since most of the models weren’t able to go to last Wednesday’s fitting and the fashion show started past 8pm. This post is a recap of the hours between 11 and 8.
bread art finalists
my kitchen gadget wishlist: a popcorn and cotton-candy machine + humongous industrial mixers
lady bug cake and matching cupcakes ; handpainted cake
intricately designed fondant cakes were also on display
we spotted this Scramble booth and Donna was the first one who ordered
we all followed suit, one by one, afterwards. I tripped and had my most embarrassing moment around 5 minutes after this photo was taken, haha
designer/stylist Mikka Velasquez with her Banane bag
designer Pablo Cabahug and director Jackie Aquino spotted backstage
Karina Cabiling getting her make-up done
the waiting game continues backstage

always bustling with energy, Luis
Rudolph and Mikka sharing a laugh

Mother Jackie giving pointers during rehearsals
Grendel Alvarado getting her photo taken for Style Narratives (see model off-duty photos there!)
JCA’s Georgia and Erin in a candid moment, laughing and holding their cup of coffee

Luis demonstrating the strut he trained most senyora models to do. Ornusa even did a demo of the exercises they used to do 5 hours a day
I finally changed into flats (thanks Mikka!!!) after being scolded by Belle and finding a lump in my right foot. I went to the organizers’ holding room for some first-aid but they didn’t have a first-aid kit, only a manghihilot. That kinda freaked me out. ๐Ÿ˜

got back to the backstage to find BJ giving out dinner
here’s BJ in the splitsecond between posing and running to Nathanael

after eating, it was time for the first outfit! rack + sequence guide taped to the wall
Belle and Donna doing some last minute checks after our models changed into their first outfits
LuisMikka, and Donna are camera ready!
Melanie Angles, Marie-Ann Umali, Jessica Yang in Tango and Koket
Karina Cabiling, Ornusa Cadness, Grendel Alvarado, Grace Tagle-Arigo, Ann Umali in Tango and Koket
Laxie Villar and Nathanael Kiefer both in Joey Samson
JCA’s Erin Zuluaga and BJ Santos all smiles and ready to start the show
there was a song number before the fashion show, so everyone was just backstage waiting.
Donna playing with Mikka‘s hair ; Belle checking her phone for the time
photo-op during the calm before the show
with Ruds and Donna who were wearing matching polos, cuties!
the show’s first sequence: Tango + Koket
the show’s last sequence: Bridal by Pablo Cabahug, Ivar Aseron, Joey Samson and Randy Ortiz for the guys
we made it! oily and sweaty after the show ๐Ÿ™‚
