I’m sure by now, most of you have already heard about the latest – and yummiest – Japanese resto, Yabu. It’s been open for a couple of months now and if you haven’t tried their authentic, melts in your mouth, katsus yet then I suggest you head to Mega Mall as soon as possible! If you need a little more nudging, then look no further, I’m here to share with you my gastronomic experience. πŸ™‚

If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that I’ve been craving for Yabu for quite some time now. I’ve been wanting to go back and try their other dishes but my schedule has been pretty busy so when it was time to choose where my mom and I were gonna have lunch on my birthday, it was a no-brainer.

katsu sauce – the Yabu way. grind the sesame seeds, pour in the katsu sauce, mix and enjoy πŸ™‚
enough of the sauce, I’m sure you wanna katsu the chase too (my sense of humor is weird but I really found the puns funny. punny. haha lame.)

first, a brief history lesson about katsu: it’s an abbreviation of katsuretsu which means cutlet. ton means pork, so tonkatsu means pork cutlet. It is considered a japanese classic dish although it traces its roots to Western culture (think German schnitzel and Polish schabowy, haha)
the Yabu difference. just because the katsu is a classic Japanese staple doesn’t mean all katsus are created equal. Yabu uses only the best ingredients including 100% natural canola oil and the “kobe beef” of pork, resulting in melts in your mouth goodness.
Kurobuta Katsu
miso happy! πŸ˜€ it was really packed that day, hence our table outside, I wasn’t able to take pictures of their zen interior. Sooo, I thought I’d share with you pictures from the first time we went there. πŸ™‚
We were in Mega Mall for pull-out for the SM Mens at Ad Congress. Ms. Ayen was asking for suggestions on where to eat when Rev said there was a new restaurant that was opening on that very day. So we decided to check it out, and we were delighted. πŸ™‚
Ate Grace all-smiles before the meal and then mixing the sauce πŸ™‚

Ms. Ayen already tweeting about it πŸ™‚
Twitpic naman si Rev. πŸ™‚ Check out the Miso Happy shirt of the waiter behind him! Super benta sakin ung shirt niya! πŸ™‚
Rosu Katsu for me
I really can’t wait to go back to Yabu! I really wanna try the Jumbo Tiger Prawn Katsu set next. Who wants to come with? πŸ™‚

Yabu is located at Level 2, Mega Atrium, SM Megamall, 1552 Manila, Philippines. Follow Yabu on Facebook and Twitter πŸ™‚
