Everyday we make it, we make it the best we can.

I recently came up with a new self-commandment – thou shall not dwell. I realized that I tend to beat myself up whenever I fall short of my expectations. As ironic as it may sound to the people who know me personally, I am a perfectionist. Wait, here me out first. My striving for perfection isn’t embodied in being all obsessive compulsive or being a neat freak, it’s based on the ideals I have for myself. It’s about being my head’s “perfect Regina” with perfection being based on the factors I attach a high value too (sorry, tidiness isn’t one of it). Thus, if something veers away from this, I end up dwelling on the issue and running through what I should’ve done/said instead. Then, I start panicking about how no one will love me coz I don’t even love me (ok this is waaaay exaggerated, but still). But, as everyone knows, no one is objectively perfect. Heck, even Jennifer Lawrence tripped during the Oscars.. twice. And it’s okay. Not being perfect means being you. Just give your 10/10 every time and don’t worry if you fall short. Coz you will sometimes. But if you know you’ve done your best, you leave no room for regret or for dwelling.
Leaving you guys with the Kings Of Leon song I got this post’s title from. Fun fact, it’s said to be written by frontman Caleb Followill for his now-wife Lily Aldridge. This definitely makes her the coolest Victoria’s Secret Angel. If you thought the AnneV-Adam Levine kiss was awesome, well, Sex On Fire is also about Lily. End of argument. (Aghhh, I really wanna see Kings Of Leon live!)
xx
