{wearing: chambray top, markus cut-offs, }

Taking cue from our Tiohng Bahru and Bugis day out, we headed to Jalan Besar. We’ve heard that Jalan Besar is the up and coming neighborhood at the moment so we went to check it out. Wanted to wear something comfy yet still appropriate for this trendy district, hence, my gold cut-offs which might look familiar.

First stop was Suprette. Prior to the Jalan Besar hype, I first heard about them from my friends Ria and Ron who claimed they have the best burger in Singapore. So of course, we went for the Suprette Burger (Beef patty, gruyere cheese, fries).

The Suprette Burger with extra balsamic onion relish.
The everything but the foie gras Suprette Burger. Extra bacon, mushroom, avocado, and balsamic onion relish.
The burgers were good, however, I found it very pricey. It’s not some thing I would return for. BUT! That isn’t to say I won’t be back.
The coffee was good and their Dinner Menu looks enticing. Although quite small, the place looks really pretty and they have weekend happy hour. Judging from the bar below, I’m pretty sure happy hour here is good.
Suprette is located at 383 Jalan Besar, Singapore 209001

We walked around the area a little bit until finally deciding to go to Antoinette for dessert. It’s not really Jalan Besar but it’s close by. Unlike Tiong Bahru, the cafes aren’t within 2 meters of each other so if you don’t know where exactly you’re going, it can get quite frustrating. If you wanna cafe hop, I suggest you plan ahead instead of winging it. Trust me, you wouldn’t wanna waste time re-googling the cafe you saw and its address when the weather isn’t cooperating.

So, yes, Antoinette. It’s a Parisian pâtisserie and salon du thé serving really gorgeous pastries and a wide array of crepes. Their menu is actually more than that as they offer breakfast and lunch as well, but for this visit, it was all about dessert.

The Nougatine crepe. Nutella, salty caramel, caramelized filo, nougatine ice cream, and vanilla creme chantilly

Antoinette’s Vanilla perfumed Hot Chocolate. a smiley face, or 2 people facing each other?

Cafe Latte. A heart or an inverted onion? Their latte/foam art isn’t their strongest suit; I actually found it underwhelming given the level of finesse that the cafe boasts. However, that isn’t to say that their drinks are below par. They’re actually quite yummy.
All in all, it was a good meal as usual. My sweet tooth was more than satisfied.
Antoinette is located at 30 Penhas Road (off Lavender Street), Singapore 208188

Absolutely gonna come back to this area and explore. Like I said above, it pays to be prepared so I’ll definitely do my research. So guys, help me out! Any recommendations? 🙂
