I rarely blog about hotels but my recent weekend at the Pan Pacific Singapore was a game changer. You see, Singapore’s National Day also happens to be my boyfriend and I’s “appointed” anniversary. The plus side is there’ll never be work on our special day but it also means we’re sharing the date with the nation’s birthday meaning plane tickets, hotels, and even dinner prices go up. We wanted to do something nice without overspending. I’m a sucker for traveling and my boyfriend is a hotel enthusiast, so a staycation was a good middle ground.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific and spent most of the time acting like tourists. It was easy to be shutter happy inside this 5-star hotel as it is filled with eye-catching design elements such as geometric patterns and luxe detailing (the Herman Miller Aeron chair was uh-maaaa-zing!). It also boasted of killer views of the city and the marina, an asset as it is, but more so because of the National Day Parade and the subsequent fireworks display.

What separates Pan Pacific from the other hotels though is their staff’s superb hospitality. From the moment we checked in, we felt really welcomed and taken care of even if there were a lot of guests. Murphy, the friendly lady in reception, took us to our room and showed us its features. She was very patient in explaining the different amenities and where it’s located, as well as at which sides we can see what view. Her knowledge of the property and her enthusiasm in sharing it with us was very admirable. I really appreciate that she noted our anniversary and had a cake sent over. It meant a lot to me that they, in a way, celebrated our anniversary with us. Talk about amazing customer service!
