One of the highlights of my recent New York trip was crossing from DUMBO to Downtown Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge. Over a century old, I can just imagine how many people have passed through this stone and cable structure and what kind of stories they carried. Walking through it makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger; its imposing facade reminding you of how small you are in the grander scale of things. That even so, you play a part that is distinctly yours and is important to the whole – like each individual brick. For someone who’s far from active, 1.83km sounded daunting at first. I even made sure to wear my Nikes, haha! But it was actually not. It was a pleasant stroll that I attribute to being in my favorite city, with one of my favorite people.

Makes me want to sing along:

Hello Brooklyn,
How you doing?
 Where you going?
Can I come too?
