Who else feels that 2016 is already starting to whizz by?! One minute I’m lighting the sparklers my cousin Miguel bought, then the next minute, it’s already January 2, and I’m just like, wait, whuutttt!? It’s a reminder to take the present as *ahem* a present. But seriously though, it’s a wake up call to not take things for granted; to not dilly-dally with our plans for the year and for our lives in general. Speaking of which, I hope your resolutions are going well. I know, I know, the term resolution has become stigmatized over the years as it had turned into just another empty phrase we throw around. A resolution is not a wish, it’s a firm decision to do something. Maybe you’d like to refer to it as goals, aims, aspirations; but whatever it is, I hope this new beginning inspires you to be better and give you enough motivation to go after that self-improvement you’ve been putting off.

I’ve said so many times in the past 10 years that I want to lose weight. This year, I’ll make good on that promise. I will lose weight and get in better shape. Day 1, check. Must keep the momentum and turn this into a habit! You can do itttt!! This year, my resolution is to up my self-discipline. Under this will be several goals I won’t be divulging here because it might take me the whole night, haha But like I said here, 2015 gave me a clearer picture of what I wanted out of life and the path that will take me there. It requires hard work and you guessed it, a lot of discipline on my part. Bawal tamad! It’s gonna require much of me but if when I pull it off, I will gain so much valuable lessons, experiences, wisdom that I know is aligned and will be of use to my life goals (naks! I feel so mature, haha!).

I know for a fact that 2016 will surprise me in ways I have not and can not imagine. I’m sure it will hold its fair share of trials and triumphs that will both break me and make me. I pray that I come out of it stronger and wiser. Future Reg, and anyone really, if you’re reading this, take heart. The saying “time flies when you’re having fun” is only a half-truth. Time flies, period. The good times will seem to move faster, but the tough ones will also whizz by.
