If last weekend’s entry was all about going out for a drink, this post is a complete 180. It’s me giving you a room tour! Okay, so, technically, this was my room in Singapore. It has since been disassembled and packed in boxes that have yet to arrive in Manila. I spent almost 3 years in this room and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss it. It was mine, y’know? Anyway, let’s begin the tour before I get senti.

My cloud of a bed that I have only recently upgraded – I changed my pillows, sheets, and duvet only last December and I wish I had done it sooner! I placed my old duvet under the mattress topper so you actually sink when you lie down, but it’s not uncomfortable coz the actual mattress is firm. And maybe it’s priming, but sleeping on white sheets leaves me so relaxed. My reading area on the right-most corner of the room. The chair came with the room and I only used to have side tables there but then my book collection grew and I figured it was time to get a proper tall-ass bookshelf which also happens to be a dream of mine, hehe! I must confess though that I do most of my reading in bed and that the chair ended up hosting piles of freshly laundered clothes on more than one occasion.

A closer look at my right side table – diffuser (I used Tea Tree before switching to Lavender – sarap before going to bed), my pinned-up world map (it’s my first time to see a map with this orientation), and a “chapter” book I could just open up randomly in the morning (I borrowed this one from Luke, the left side table has the “main” book I’m reading and my charging station underneath), and a closer look at my perfume stand with a framed goals/to do list. Shout out to my colleagues for this collection! Literally 6/8 came from them!

My dressing area – my closet had sliding panels which I found really annoying so I took it out for an “open concept” kind of feel. My hamper is on the right side of the closet so this area is like a really accessible triangle for dressing up. Plus my dresser/desk is just across the closet. My room’s left wall – there’s a long table with trinkets and storage boxes (not in photo). There’s also a small “bar area” even if I’m not allowed to have visitors just so I have a piece of my dream apartment (bar cart please!!). The YOLO frame is from our old flat in Beach Road, because YOLO. I had to leave that frame behind though. I hope whoever finds it will be inspired to to live like you mean it in Singapore.

My make-up slash work desk which was a love/hate piece because it was so bulky and I didn’t know what to do with it (it came with the room). Added the marble contact paper, then voila, I became happy with it, haha babaw. Added that huge Eiffel Tower frame from Ikea coz my room doesn’t have any windows and I read somewhere that adding a scenic frame opens up your room.
So there you have it.
As much as I miss my room, it feels good to be back in this one. What’s 3 years compared to my room of 20++ years?! I just need to “reclaim” it because it now feels more like staying in a guest room instead of being in my bedroom. But maybe it’s also coz I haven’t been back long enough? Anyway, we’ll see how it goes. At least I have proper windows now and aside from Harry (my Ikea dog), I have real dogs welcoming me home. Hopefully, the next tour I do will be on my dream apartment.
Anyway, how’s your weekend coming along? Any plans? I went to watch Ballet Manila’s Giselle this afternoon and have spent the evening resting in bed – I haven’t been feeling well and hopefully, by tomorrow I’ll be 100% (and I could share my ballet experience with you on the blog).
