The butterfly effect. The theory that the smallest detail can majorly alter one’s course. That a butterfly’s flapping of its wings sets of a series of events that can ultimately affect a tornado. What are your thoughts on this? Well, I think that everything happens for a reason and that the decisions we make and the circumstances that befall us all lead up to taking us where we’re meant to be. Take for instance yesterday when my car died less than 5km away from an event I was supposed to attend. I couldn’t help but wonder how this little mishap may have affected my life on a bigger scale. It might seem mundane but don’t most life changing things happen when you least expect it anyway?

Oh, left my memory card, photo taken with my HTC by Rudolph 🙂

  1. This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from How I Met Your Mother:

"The great moments of your life won't necessarily be the things you do. They'll also be the things that happen to you. Now, I'm not saying you can't take action to affect the outcome of your life. You have to take action. And you will! But never forget, that on any day, you could step out the front door, and your whole life could change forever. You see the Universe has a plan kids; and that plan is always in motion. A butterfly flaps its wings, and it starts to rain. It's a scary thought, but it's also kind of wonderful. All these little parts of the machine constantly working… Making sure that you end up exactly where you're supposed to be.. exactly when you're supposed to be there. The right place. At the right time."

    I miss you, boothmate 🙂

  2. First of all, you look lovely in that dress! Secondly, this is so weird because I just stumbled across this blog browsing around and two different friends brought up the concept of the butterfly effect to me this week! I am going to take that as a sign to be more thoughtful towards others because you never know how the smallest act can effect someone else or myself. I like to think a little love can have profound effects in the long term:)
