Soooo, I’ve been thinking about this whole “blogging” thing. I mean.. why’d I open up my life to the online world, anyway?! HAHA Bloggers subject themselves to unnecessary judgement – I read this somewhere and it really struck me, coz yeah, why do we consciously choose to be available for scrutiny? Your hair is horrible, your clothes aren’t nice, you’re fat, blah blah blah. More and more people are getting bored with their lives and have nothing better to do than throw insults behind the shade of anonymity. I’ve been pretty lucky in this front coz I’ve had it much easier than some of my blogger friends at home. I mean, I’ve had my share, but it’s not something that will make me stop doing this altogether.

My issue with blogging lies somewhere else. It’s so easy for me to babble in front of a faceless audience that I sometimes forget that I’m actually sharing a part of myself to real people. There was this instance in Poland when I met up with someone (after being introduced only briefly a few nights back), he already knew about PLF and he even addressed me by my blog name. Hey rocket girl *then flashes a goofy grin* (medyo cute hanggang narealize ko na ginoogle ako ni koya – syempre palaliman ng Tagalog para hindi ma-google translate, lol)  Do I really want strangers to know me and/or who I was in 2011/2010? Will they want to know me after going through my blog archive? #SlipperySlope

But what’s really making me reconsider this whole blogging thing is the fact that someone tried to hack into my facebook and twitter. I didn’t really think much of the facebook notification that someone tried to log in my account from Ontario (coz it was probably just a bug or something) until I logged on to my twitter only to find out that someone tried to reset my password. 😐

This blog has opened lots of doors for me, there’s no denying that. I’m just not sure if I can actually keep up with this – if I actually want to keep up with this.

So while I contemplate the future of this seldom updated blog, I’ll subject myself to your judgement (one last time?) by posting this video of my friends and I making utter fools of ourselves – GANGNAM STYLE πŸ˜‰

  1. I can't believe someone's been trying to get into your accounts online! And I agree with that quote you included, "Bloggers subject themselves to unnecessary judgement". Also, that sometimes we tend to get carried away with entries that we overshare. But up to what extent can we share without oversharing? …if that makes sense. How much of our lives can remain private? It really is a tricky situation. But whether you choose to continue blogging or not, I'll respect your decision πŸ™‚ I'm sure we've all got reasons for continuing and/or stopping right here πŸ™‚

Hope you're doing great, Reg! That's a really fun video :p

    1. Hi Megann! It's really nice to hear from you πŸ™‚ I love this line: But up to what extent can we share without oversharing? – It really hit close to home. I guess we just have to learn to find the balance between the two. πŸ˜‰

  2. I guess it all depends on what content you want to put up. Personally, while I know there is an audience out there. My blogging "style" is mainly for me, the future me, the past me (? #labo). To some extent, it's for people that matter to you to be updated by you, through your voice even when you are far away and unable to tell them in person.

My "thing" about blogging is wondering how personal or impersonal it has become since it started. Blogging always used to be for personal thoughts, like an online diary. I don't think anyone considered "the audience" until a couple of years back. I guess there's no harm in not keeping it as updated as you used to–it's your life after all. No pressure. Don't let us, "the readers" make you think that you owe anything to us. πŸ™‚

    1. Mishie! Thank you for commenting. πŸ™‚ I get what you mean. I've been blogging in livejournal for years about personal stuff coz I wanted an outlet (and I really enjoy reading old entries, hee) and it's technically no different from this "outlet" – except that no one really reads my lj – but as much as this blog is for me, it's still published publicly on the internet and I guess just have to learn to properly thread the fine line between that. πŸ™‚
