If there’s one place that really makes me feel I’m in Singapore, it has got to be Orchard Road. It’s the yellow brick road that reminds me I’m not in Kansas anymore. You see, most of the time we go on with our daily lives not really paying attention to the details. We just go with it. Sometimes I forget I’m no longer in the Philippines, I mean, obviously I’m not but sometimes it just slips my mind. Not in the sense that I talk to everyone in Filipino and expect to wake up in my bedroom but more of the setting fades into the background and I’m just focused on the day to day movements. Every time I’m in Orchard though, a neon sign lights up in my head announcing “HI YOU’RE IN SINGAPORE!”. Like I said here, it represents everything that I didn’t feel I had in Manila – security and independence.

This is what I wore when I went to the Philippine Embassy, which is just around the corner of Orchard, to renew my passport. Met with my really good girl friend Pooja after.
