Newest celebrity chef restaurant on the block, Jamie’s Italian opened its Vivo City doors last July 2013. For its first few months, queues were crazy long and it was next to impossible to get a table. And if you do get a table, you’re not quite sure if its worth the wait as the restaurant had received mixed reviews, mostly negative. Singaporeans are known to be quite fussy and hard to please so I was unfazed by the reviews. We went there to end my boyfriend’s birthday week and this is my experience with it –

We were greeted with a beautiful atmosphere that transports you from Asia to downtown New York. I know, I know, New York?! But it’s an italian restaurant! Jamie’s Italian looks like an upscale contemporary eatery fit for a top cosmopolitan city.

homey industrial is the way to go
cloth napkins are always a plus
see what I mean when I said New York? this plush red leather couch is just gorgeous!

our candle lit dinner spread
spinach and ricotta ravioli for me
the famous polenta chips
wild mushroom and smoked mozarella risotto
panacotta for the birthday boy

Being a celebrity chef restaurant with the chef’s reputation to uphold and prices to justify, there’s a huge expectation coming from you to deliver amazing food. Jamie’s Italian served decent food but for that price, you don’t want decent. You want mindblowingly delicious. I give full points for the eatery’s atmosphere and the crew’s service, but there’s so much left to be desired food-wise.

Have you tried Jamie’s Italian? What are your thoughts?
