Yesterday was my 26th birthday, gaaaah! I’m in my late 20’s!! Or is it still considered mid-20s? Late mid-20s? Hahaha Anyway, whatever, even if I’m getting older, I’m still a kid who very much loves birthdays. So, thank you to everyone who sprinkled good vibes and well wishes on my special day! It really made me smile knowing that people bothered to greet me. You guys are enablers of my birthday-obsession! Hahaha šŸ™‚

Things were quite different this year though. Normally, I’d stay up until midnight on the eve of my birthday but this year, my boyfriend and I went to Chili’s for dinner and strawberry mango margaritas, and suffice to say… I was in bed by 11pm. I complained to Luke that I used to be really good at drinking, to which he replied it wasn’t a real life skill. Fair enough, I’m in my late mid-20s!

Woke up to a sunny morning and went to Starbucks for a coffee treat – I’ve recently been avoiding it like the plague to cut on unnecessary calories – an Upside down iced caramel macchiato andddd this super cute Starbucks card. You’re awesome, Reg. You have to appreciate yourself first or else how can you expect others to do the same, diba?

Spent the rest of the morning catching up with Pope Francis’ visit, face timing with my mom, making a to do list (and doing it!), andddd laundry. Why?! Coz I’m a mature, responsible adult, chos!

Had late lunch at Fei Fei Wanton Mee with Luke. Must have noodles for long life, right? šŸ™‚ We then spent a good 20mins walking under the sun to burn those calories (and sadly, our skin).

I was then surprised by my boyfriend with a bouquet of roses, which makes it 2 for this birthday! My mom sent over a gorgeous bouquet to my office in advance. I know, I know, some people might think that flowers are silly. You pay for it then it wilts anyway. Butttt, it’s that thought that comes with the flowers that make these pretty things extra special.

Checked some more of my to do list then popped on to Orchard for dinner. Went to Bedrock Bar and Grill for some yummy steak with my hot date. šŸ˜‰ I’ll post a separate entry for that meal because it was just a wonderful meal.

Went back home, but not before a bird decided to poop on my bag. Daymnnn. A good reminder that in life, you can’t control everything. You can take precaution, yes, but full control? Not likely.

In a way, it’s part of the theme of this birthday. Believing in yourself and going for your dreams (thank you Pope Francis and my loved ones for all the encouragement!), being an adult (in the sense that you have more responsibility and accountability), and carrying on even if (bird) shit happens.

Oh, and in line with these themes, here’s the first song I heard on my 26th birthday. Maybe it’s an omen from the radio gods or something? Let’s rock this year!!! ā™¬ But I won’t cry for yesterday, there’s an ordinary world somehow I have to find, and as I try to make my way to the ordinary world, I will learn to survive. ā™¬ Boo yah!

And to end this post in true heyrocketgirl fashion, a quote I’ve been using in the past how many years-

“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”

xx
