Since it’s February and Valentine’s Day is coming up, I figured I’d share with you 8 songs that never fail to crush bits of my insides. I mean, hey, people are already starting to be defensive, declaring how they don’t care about the 14th (when in reality, they’re the ones creating buzz for that day). So might as well capitalize on that disdain by providing you my ultimate Anti-Valentinefeels playlist. Listening to the entire playlist now is giving me such a heaveeeeh heart (uyy, hahaha!). This is a very personal and subjective list so maybe you wouldn’t find some songs as heartbreaking as I did while I curled my hair and tried to hold down tears instigated by a whatsapp message and emoji (true story, haha!). But eerily enough, I think some melodies appeal to our primitive understanding of melancholy. It’s the whole experience of the song – the words, the notes, the artist’s interpretation – that may or may not evoke personal imageries attached to it but still make us feel slightly bluer. These songs represent that for me. (But if we’re relying heavily on memories, I think the song I cried to the most was Last Request by Paulo Nutini. Ultimate break up song?! Hahaha!)
You can listen to it here: Swan Song but I’m not sure if the last track would be available to you. Sooo, because I’m nice and I want to spread some emo-ness, below are links to the tracks well as the lines I love singing along to (salting the wounds, ey?).
Oh and bonus track, the saddest song ever.  Even Bonnie Rait has got nothing on the depression levels of this version.
Happy Valentine’s! 😉
