My mom and I didn’t waste any moment during her recent visit to Singapore. Not more than a couple of hours after she arrived, we went to see (hear?) the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. It was all pretty impromptu and she got a bit stressed by me because after all, she had just landed and was expecting a super laidback schedule instead of a rushed evening. But hey, it’s the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra and Maestro Zubin Mehta, how to say no? I promised to make it up by booking us dinner at Mozza coz we both looove italian food. Looking back, it was a real lovely evening, if I do say so myself. 🙂

I’m not a classical music connoisseur, but I do appreciate it. Especially hearing it live. I love the sound of strings as it is, but having a whole orchestra fill the air just blows me away. It must have been a such a treat living in the olden days with grand balls and feting to ensembles. 🙂

After the show, my mom and I hopped on to Pizzeria Mozza. Word to the wise, I’m glad I stopped by to make a reservation before entering the theatre because it seemed like everyone had the same dinner plans (not that you’re spoiled for choices since everything’s almost closed by that time…). Anyway, I’m a firm believer that a good meal not only satiates your belly, it must tickle your tastebuds AND fill you with that warm fuzzy feeling. Our meal at Mozza did just that. From the hearty liver and pancetta bruschetta, to the refreshing insalata with onions, pinenuts, and lemon dressing, to the pomodoro and burrata comfort pizza, my mom and I breezed through our meal sharing laughs and talking about anything and everything. I don’t get as much date nights with my mom nowadays, so having one that
is filled with wonderful music and yummy food somewhat makes up for it. Ultimately though, the best part was just being able to catch up and make kulit my mom. 🙂
