Like I said here, I think that Mandarin Oriental has the best in-hotel dining in Singapore. I bet the first thing that comes to locals’ minds is Morton’s, but no, this isn’t about the famous steakhouse – I didn’t even step inside. I mean, I would’ve loved to try it out but I have yet to find an occasion to splurge a hundred dollars for a plate. 😉 Anyway! This post will feature their room service, buffet breakfast, and pool treats – dining experiences that are way underrated. Not only is the food good, the service is above par. Here, you will also find out the exact moment that converted me into a full-fledged MO fan. 😉
1) First night: Room service.
Me to my mom: you know the only thing missing from this perfect hotel room? HOT CHOCOLATE.
My mom: why don’t you order?
Me: it’s not in the room service menu.
Mom: why don’t you call and try?
AND VOILA, MY POT OF HOT CHOCOLATE. ♥
2) Breakfast at MELT ~ The World Cafe

I’ve said it a million times on this blog, but I’m gonna repeat it once more just in case you forgot- I LOVE BREAKFAST. Mandarin Oriental did not disappoint in this front. They had my staples (croissants and cold cuts) and then some (home made yogurt, mmm). They offer a huge breakfast spread with almost anything you can want in the morning – cereal, eggs, dimsum, ham, noodles, name it, they have it. PS- sorry guys, I was in a rush and didn’t have the luxury to take photos of every corner. The stuff you see here are those that ended up in my belly, haha!

3) Afternoon treat at Dolce Vita

I was hoping for sunshine and a tan, but it was rainy and gloomy during my poolside afternoon in MO. I didn’t let that stop me from having this sorbet treat though. 😉

4) Room Service: Dinner

On our second night, my mom was out with her colleagues and I was suffering from a major headache so I opted for an in-room dinner. I ordered penne carbonara and it was so yummy! It even came with crisps, tea, and a marshmallow treat. I also appreciated the quotable quote included in the table set-up. Not only does it inspire you and make you think, I feel that it totally reflects the hotel’s philosophy too.

The moment that stole the cake, however, was when Debbie, the MO staff who brought my food, rang the bell again and brought me a pot of honey lemon tea coz I wasn’t feeling well.♥ It was the nicest gesture I have ever experienced in a hotel. I really wasn’t expecting it coz I just casually mentioned it during the “how are you” small talk upon my carbonara’s arrival. THAT IS WHY I AM IN LOVE WITH MANDARIN ORIENTAL. Their service is really top notch and as a guest, you can really feel that you’re well taken care of. I am, in all honesty, just blown away. I didn’t think that 5 star hotels can get any better, but Mandarin Oriental Singapore definitely raised the bar.

Mandarin Oriental, you really are my cup of tea. ♥
