Recently I was reminded of the value of steady. People often throw around the phrase “slow and steady wins the race” but I feel it’s totally misconstrued. It’s much less the speed but more of the consistency that lets us win. Steady wins the race. People assume being fast means losing balance, but if you can sustain your momentum, then why choose to be slow? It’s the plummet that worries people about speed – the sudden halt, the breakdown, the loss of control. What they don’t take into consideration is that steady allows for gradual adjustments. You can be fast and producing consistent results, whereas you can be slow and still producing subpar output. At the end of the day, it’s not just how fast or how slow, or just how well or not you do things, it’s a combination of both. It’s constant precision, not speed, not accuracy.

So for those people who worry about the pace the year of the sheep is going to bring, fret not. It doesn’t mean you won’t be able to accomplish anything because this lunar new year is supposed to be extremely chill. Use this to your advantage and produce a steady stream of consistently good work. Heck, new year or not, we owe it to ourselves to be the best possible versions of us. And when has inconsistent ever been the best? ;)tho
