I have been phone-free this weekend. Most people freak out when they find out that they don’t have their phone (I would too if I was unsure of where I left it), but given that I know where it is, I don’t really mind. If anything, I welcome it. Not only have I not mindlessly scrolled through my Instagram feed, I finished Look Who’s Back, and I’ve made plans with a friend the good ol’ fashioned way – setting a time and place. No “sorry I’m gonna be late” texts 15 minutes before the scheduled meet – just your word of honor and the decency to respect the other person’s time. Not only that, not having your phone forces you to be social in unfamiliar situations coz you don’t have anything to hide preoccupy your self with. Who knew that going back to basics can be so good?
